Complete guide to Arguineguín markets The big weekly market in Arguineguín is held every Tuesday from 08.00 to 14.00 in the Plaza Negra and surrounding streets at the east end of the town. It consists of hundreds of stands selling everything from fresh local produce and handicrafts to food, clothes and jewellery. At the same time, there’s a craft market in the Plaza de las Marañuelas just behind the marina and the main Las Marañuelas beach in Arguineguín. Between October and March, there is also a market in the Ancora Shopping Centre selling clothes, bric-a-brac and local produce. It runs between 08.30 and 14.30. On Saturdays, there’s a flea market in the Plaza de las Marañuelas behind the marina between 08.30 and 14.30. It may surprise you that there is more than one market in Arguineguin, which is great if you are looking for a bargain, local produce or handcrafts. Markets tend to start from 8-9am and are packing up by 1-2pm so make sure to arrive early. Arguineguin Market – Every Tuesday The main Arguineguin market is on every Tuesday throughout the year. It is held at the Plaza Negra and you can pick up local produce, flowers clothing and handcrafts from the many market stalls. This is the perfect time to have a nice walk around the village, enjoy an ice cream at nearby Palacio del Sabor or Spar Express and take in the sights. the marketplace ́Plaza Negra ́ not far from the harbour How to get there Arguineguín hosts a ferry service to Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogán whilst another popular way to reach the town from Puerto Rico is by trekking over the mountain between the two towns. Arguineguín also lies on several public bus routes offering convenient services to other towns on the island. Arguineguín is also served by the GC1 motorway with a nearby interchange. Arguineguín at sunset Arguineguín has several bars and restaurants, the latter specialising in fresh fish caught the same day. You could head for a restaurant called El Pajar, which is very famous all over the island of Gran Canaria for it’s fresh fish dishes, and attracts many people from all over Gran Canaria to Arguineguín. It only serves fish so don’t go if you are looking for steak. It is very popular and it’s customers are served on a first come first served basis through a ticket system.
